Sunita Williams News: Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore are in space these days. Both the astronauts had gone for a week in June, but now they will be able to return to Earth only in February next year. The Boeing Starliner that took both of them to space has returned to Earth due to a technical fault. This mission may not have been completed yet, but Sunita Williams is in the news again. Her old interviews are going viral, in which she spoke openly about her personal life. Sunita considers Lord Ganesha as her lucky charm and said in an interview that I have always kept Lord Ganesha with me and that is why he had to go to space with me.
Sunita Williams believes a lot in Lord Ganesha. She has also taken the idol of Lord Ganesha on her previous space mission. Not only this, Sunita has also taken the Bhagavad Gita to space. Apart from this, she also likes samosa a lot, which she took with her on the mission. During a news conference held at the National Science Center in New Delhi in 2013, Sunita Williams said that I like my Indian heritage very much and I am happy that I have taken a part of it with me to space.
Referring to Lord Ganesha, Sunita Williams had said, “Ganeshji has always been in my house. Wherever I have lived, I have kept Lord Ganesha with me and so he had to go with me to space as well.” Even before her mission in June this year, Sunita Williams had told that she would take her lucky charm Lord Ganesha with her. Apart from this, she had told about Indian food that you can never be satisfied with Indian food, so I had to make sure that I had some samosas with me in space. Other types of Indian food were also definitely there.
In an old interview to NDTV, Sunita Williams said before the Boeing mission that the crew will take the idol of Lord Ganesha with them in the flight because Ganeshji is a lucky charm and she is happy to have Lord Ganesha with her in outer space. In her previous trips to space, Sunita Williams used to carry the Bhagavad Gita with her. Even after being on a mission to space in the year 2012, Sunita Williams greeted people from there on the occasion of Diwali.
