Supreme Court on Shambhu border: The Supreme Court has given an important decision regarding the farmers protesting at Shambhu border. The court has constituted a five-member committee for amicable redressal of the grievances of the protesting farmers. The committee will be headed by Justice Nawab Singh, former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court directed the committee to convene a meeting within a week. The Supreme Court has also asked the panel to immediately go to Shambhu border and talk to the farmers to get it opened. The apex court has also asked the farmers to avoid politicizing the issue and not make unreasonable demands.
The court said that the High Power Committee should go and meet the protesting farmers. The committee should request the farmers to remove their tractors. The apex court expressed hope that when the problems of the farmers are heard properly, they will also listen to the committee and remove their tractors from there. This will provide great relief to the common people. Apart from this, the Supreme Court also warned the farmers to keep a distance from political parties.
The court further said in its order that all the names suggested by Punjab and Haryana are reputed and honest in their specific field. Also, they are aware of the difficulties faced by farmers in rural areas. The court said that we have noticed that both the states have a large population of agricultural communities. It lives below the poverty line and deserves sympathy. Their issues need to be addressed.
