Tampering of evidence, FIR after funeral; CBI accuses Bengal government in SC

The CBI, which is investigating the rape and murder case of a Kolkata doctor, has filed a status report in the Supreme Court. During the hearing in the court, the agency made a volley of allegations against the Bengal Police and the government. The court said that the crime scene has been tampered with. Due to this, there is a danger of some evidence being destroyed. The situation is such that even starting an investigation is a challenge. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who is representing the CBI, said, ‘The first FIR was registered at 11:45 pm after the victim’s funeral. First the parents were told that their daughter had committed suicide. Then it was told that she had died. After this, when the victim’s friends asked for videography, it was not done. It seems clear that something is wrong in this case.’
