Tata Truck Case: Former Defense Minister AK Antony appeared as a witness, know what he told the court

Tata Truck Scam: The case is related to corruption in the purchase of Tata trucks during the UPA government. On Wednesday, former Defense Minister AK Antony appeared before the court as a witness.

New Delhi: Former Defense Minister AK Antony was on Wednesday cross-examined as a prosecution witness in the corruption case related to the purchase of Tatra trucks. According to a case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the then Army Chief General VK Singh had alleged that during a meeting at his office on 22 September 2010, Lt Gen Tejinder Singh gave him 1676 HMV (Tatra trucks) including a Tatra truck. High Mobility Vehicles) had offered to pay a bribe of Rs 14 crore to clear the file for purchase. Senior advocate Pramod Kumar Dubey and advocate Anurag Andley cross-examined the senior Congress leader. During this, Antony said that no official complaint was made to him or the ministry regarding the incident.

The former defense minister said, ‘VK Singh once told me about this matter…he had mentioned Tejinder Singh’s name… But he used to write letters. This time my understanding was that he did not complain to the ministry. VK Singh told me that he does not want to pursue the matter.

Antony said that Singh did not give him any written note or produced any audio recording of his conversation with Tejinder Singh. Charges were framed in 2019 against former Lt Gen Tejinder Singh by a court.
