Telangana: CM KCR inaugurated 8 medical colleges, guaranteed 33

Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday formally inaugurated the academic year in eight newly constructed Government Medical Colleges in eight districts from Pragathi Bhavan. KCR called it an auspicious day in the history of the state. On this occasion, he said that our target is to bring a government medical college in every district. With this launch, we have medical colleges in 17 districts. Soon this number will reach 33 medical colleges in all 33 districts of the state.

According to PTI, eight new government medical colleges at Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam started their MBBS programs at the same time. District Collectors of eight districts, health department officials and medical students participated in its launch event. These new medical colleges, which cost Rs 4,080 crore, will increase the number of MBBS seats in Telangana by a total of 1,150. Recently got admission in these colleges. Significantly, till the year 2014, there were only three government medical colleges in Telangana.

However, the government increased the total number of medical colleges to 17 upon the establishment of the state. After guaranteeing one medical college in each district, the state government expects the total number of government medical colleges to go up to 33. These colleges were established without receiving any financial assistance from the central government. Which had not authorized any government medical college in the state for the last eight years. At the same time, the state government also improved the nearby district hospitals and connected them with new medical colleges.

Along with this, Industries Minister K. T. Rama Rao called it ‘Red Letter Day’ for Telangana in medical education and health sector. He tweeted about it on Twitter. He said in his tweet that 8 new medical colleges were started by CM KCR Garu on red-letter day for Telangana in medical education and health sector. In United AP only 3 medical colleges were established in 57 years. Telangana government established 12 medical colleges in just 8 years.
