Telangana CM KCR inaugurated 8 medical colleges, said – will be built in every district

Telangana CM: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday formally inaugurated the academic year in eight newly constructed Government Medical Colleges in eight districts from Pragathi Bhavan. KCR called it an auspicious day in the history of the state. On this occasion, he said that our target is to bring one government medical college in every district. With this launch, we have medical colleges opened in 17 districts.

He said that soon this number would reach 33 medical colleges in all 33 districts of the state. According to senior officials, eight new government medical colleges at Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam started their MBBS programs at the same time. District Collectors of eight districts, health department officials and medical students participated in its launch event.

How much does a medical college cost?
These new medical colleges costing Rs 4,080 crore will increase the total number of MBBS seats in Telangana by 1,150. Recently got admission in these colleges. Significantly, till the year 2014, there were only three government medical colleges in Telangana. However, the government increased the total number of medical colleges to 17 upon the establishment of the state.

‘…then a medical college will be built in every district’
After guaranteeing one medical college in each district, the state government hopes to take the total number of government medical colleges to 33. These colleges were established without receiving any financial assistance from the Central Government. Which had not authorized any government medical college in the state for the last eight years. At the same time, the state government also improved the nearby district hospitals and attached them to the new medical colleges.
