Tension after the death of a youth in Odisha’s Khurda, prohibitory orders imposed after violent incident – Hindustan News Hub

Tension after violence in Odisha’s Khurda

Bhubaneswar: In Odisha’s Khurda district, a clash between two groups over a small issue escalated so much that one person died in this clash. After the incident, prohibitory orders have been imposed in the entire district under section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) and the police is keeping a close watch. Police has given this information. Police said that this incident took place in Mukunda Prasad village on the outskirts of Khurda town, the reason for the clash is not yet known.

Police said that during the clash, the man was attacked with a sharp weapon, due to which he got injured. According to police, the injured man was taken to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police said that several vehicles were damaged during the violence between the two groups. DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania and Intelligence Director S.K. Priyadarshi along with senior police officers visited the area and reviewed the situation.

The crowd dispersed after police assurance

Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar said that after the murder, the local people blocked the road and created a ruckus. Everyone was demanding immediate arrest of the criminals. People moved away from the roads after the police assured action against the criminals. District Magistrate Chanchal Rana said, “The police will investigate every aspect of this case and action will be taken accordingly.”

Prohibitory orders imposed in the entire area

He said that following the clashes, prohibitory orders have been imposed with immediate effect under Section 163 of the BNSS in various wards of Khurda Municipality. Schools, colleges, Anganwadi centres and commercial establishments in the area will remain closed. Emergency services have been exempted. Officials said that the restrictions will remain in force till further orders.
