On Tuesday evening, unknown terrorists opened fire on a police team in Thana Mandi area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, following the attack, the police and the Indian Army have launched a massive cordon and search operation in the area.
The situation in the area is being closely monitored since the incident and additional forces have been rushed to the spot to ensure security of the area. Security forces are making every effort to trace the terrorists and vigil has been increased in the area. At present, no loss of life or property has been reported, and search operations are underway.
According to preliminary reports, around 7.30 pm, there was a brief exchange of fire between the two sides when police and Rashtriya Rifles personnel moved towards Lower Karyote village in Thanamandi after receiving information about suspicious movement.
According to a report by India Today, officials said that on seeing the search teams, the terrorists started firing and then fled taking advantage of the darkness during the retaliatory action. There is no report of any casualties or injuries so far.
