The court acquitted Umar Khalid and Khalid Saifi in the case related to Delhi riots, know the whole matter
New Delhi. Delhi’s Karkardooma Court has acquitted Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) former student leaders Umar Khalid and Khalid Saifi in a Delhi riots case. Both of them had earlier got bail in February 2020 in the case of stone pelting in Chandbagh area of the capital Delhi, but in the second case they are in jail.
In fact, a case was registered against these two on the basis of the statement of a police constable in connection with the Delhi riots, in which it was said that on February 24, 2020, a large crowd gathered near the Chand Bagh Pulia had pelted stones. The names of Khalid Saifi and Umar Khalid were also added during that stone pelting. However, the court found that there is no direct evidence against these two, on the basis of which the court acquitted them in this case.
However, despite being acquitted by the court in this case, both the accused are currently in judicial custody in the case related to UAPA.
