The pregnant mother was made to sit in the police station for 10 hours, the girl’s family was also harassed in Badlapur; protests are still going on today

People are angry over the delay in police action in the rape case of 3 and 4 year old girls in Badlapur, Maharashtra. On Tuesday, thousands of people descended on Badlapur railway station and staged a massive protest. Thane Police Commissioner has also suspended three policemen in this case. Meanwhile, the family of one of the two girls said that the police kept the pregnant mother sitting in the police station and hospital for 10 hours. The case was not registered for hours. Such a situation arose when the mother of one of the victims is two months pregnant. The police kept her sitting in the police station for 10 hours. Due to this, she is in trauma and is suffering from 102 degree fever.

A relative of the victim said that we had got a medical done in a private hospital. In the initial investigation it was found that sexual assault had taken place and then when we went to the police station, the medical was done again in a government hospital. After this, a long interrogation was done in the police station. This situation was disturbing for both the victim and her mother. The family said that the police did not show any sensitivity in this case. Even though it was a case of a small girl, there was a delay in filing an FIR.

Thousands of people who reached Badlapur railway station were angry that why did the police delay in the case of such young girls. According to the FIR lodged in Badlapur East Police Station, information about this incident was given on 16th August. On the same day, the grandfather of a girl told her parents that another family has told about their daughter that she is scared of going to school. She is complaining of pain in her private parts. Some grandfather in the school has touched her body parts inappropriately. The grandfather of the girl got suspicious and then he convinced the parents to take the girl to the hospital. It was revealed that she too has been sexually assaulted.

This matter has also taken a political turn. NCP-Sharad Pawar leader Supriya Sule took part in the protest in Pune. She said that the government delayed taking action in this matter. Meanwhile, Sanjay Raut raised questions on filing cases against the protesters. He said that people in Maharashtra do not tolerate such things. When a large number of people came out to protest, you filed cases against them. The question will definitely arise that in whose institution such an incident has taken place.
