The condition of the education system in UP is being exposed time and again. In the famous Purvanchal University here, arbitrary marks were given even after writing Jai Shri Ram and names of film stars instead of answers in the Pharmacy copies. Now even more strange acts have come to light in the evaluation of B.Ed. copies. 65 to 75 marks were given in copies with 50 marks. That too, this was done in the copies of not one or two but about 200 students. The university administration reprimanded the teacher who did the evaluation and an attempt has been made to hush up the matter by making him sit till late night and getting the evaluation done again.
The evaluation of answer sheets of B.Ed. second and fourth semester was going on for the past several days in PU’s Bala Saheb Deoras central evaluation room. About 200 internal and external examiners were called for this. During this time, an examiner gave arbitrary marks while evaluating the copy of Environment Education. Some were given 65 marks, while some were given 70-75 marks. Whereas that question paper itself was of 50 marks. Now the question arises whether the teacher gave marks arbitrarily after checking the copies or evaluated them considering the total marks to be 90. Bundles of 50-50 copies were checked and sent to the agency for posting the marks.
The agency caught the matter during digit feeding
The agency caught the case of giving 65 to 75 marks in the evaluation of a copy with 50 marks. It is said that when the marks were being posted by the agency personnel, the data got mismatched. Then it was seen that more than 60 marks were given for a total of 50 marks. After this, a complaint was made to the coordinator Ajay Kumar Dubey. He immediately took the matter seriously and himself saw the bundle of copies in which huge irregularities had been committed.
Copies were checked till 9 pm
After the discrepancy was detected, the examiner was called and severely reprimanded for his negligence. After that he was asked to read the bundle again and check it. On this the teacher rechecked the copies till 9 pm and corrected the discrepancies.
According to Prof. Ajay Dubey, the coordinator of B.Ed. evaluation in the university, the matter was taken seriously as soon as it came to light and the examiner was summoned. He accepted human error for this negligence. Whereas all the information including the total marks of the paper was given to the examiners. Giving a chance for this negligence, the marks were corrected by re-evaluating it.
