Political activity has increased in Jammu and Kashmir as the dates for the assembly elections have been announced. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar told in a press conference today that the elections will be held in three phases. The first phase will be held on September 18, the second on September 25, and the third on October 1. After this, counting of votes will take place on October 4 and the election results will be declared. Rajiv Kumar also recited a Shayari referring to the long queues of people at the polling stations during Lok Sabha 2024.
Rajiv Kumar said that after extensive consultations with various political parties of Jammu and Kashmir, it was concluded that elections should be held here as soon as possible. Referring to the long queues at polling stations in Jammu and Kashmir during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he said that it is a symbol of the vibrancy of democracy.
The Chief Election Commissioner said, “The queues outside the polling booths were not just long, but they were also filled with people’s hopes, their passions and their new aspirations to write their own future.” He also said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir chose the ballot over bullets, which reflects their faith in democracy.
During the press conference, Rajiv Kumar also recited a Shayari, which highlights the desires and hopes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir:

Your participation in the celebration of democracy,
The world will see the story of the defeat of evil intentions.”
