There was a conspiracy to create panic in Kashmir before the elections, a huge cache of weapons was seized near LoC

Security forces on Wednesday seized a huge cache of weapons from a forest in Keran sector of Kupwara near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces also busted a terrorist hideout and recovered weapons and ammunition. According to sources, these ammunitions were to be used to create fear and panic before the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Earlier, based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Keran sector.

According to a report by India TV, this intelligence was provided by the special election observer and intelligence teams posted in Srinagar, after which a search operation was conducted. The search team found a large 10-feet cave near a tree where the terrorists had stored arms, ammunition and weapons. Its purpose was to disrupt the elections and spread terror in Jammu and Kashmir.

A huge cache of weapons recovered

During searches in the said area, security forces recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives. This included AK-47 rounds, hand grenades, RPG rounds, material for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other such items.

Big success

The Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on Twitter, “Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Keran Sector of Kupwara today. During the search, a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives including AK 47 rounds, hand grenades, RPG rounds, material for Improvised Explosive Devices was recovered. Keeping in view the prevailing security situation and important upcoming developments, this recovery is significant and a major success for the security forces.”

Two terrorists killed in Kathua

Earlier on Wednesday, at least two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua. “Operation – Khandra. Two terrorists were neutralised in an ongoing operation in Khandra Kathua by troops of Rising Star Corps. Operation is underway,” the Rising Star Corps posted on X. According to officials, the slain terrorists have been identified as Pakistani nationals. Search operation by security forces is underway in Khandra Top area and the situation is said to be completely under control.
