There will be heavy rain in Tamil Nadu for the next two days, weather department issued alert

Alert issued for two days of heavy rain in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in more than 10 districts of Tamil Nadu in the next three days. IMD said in a statement that due to the change in weather, more than 10 districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive heavy rain in the next two days. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Kanyakumari. Today in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Theni districts of Tamil Nadu while in Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Madurai, Dindigul, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Kanchipuram, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Tiruvarur districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal region. Rain alert was issued.

There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain

“There will be rain at isolated places,” the IMD said in a statement issued at 1.30 pm today. The statement said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu on November 22. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Theni, Dindigul, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal region. There is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, today there was moderate sunshine in Kanchipuram district, during which suddenly dark clouds gathered and it started raining and eventually heavy rain. Apart from Kanchipuram, many places like Walazabad, Uthiramerur, Chennai Bengaluru National Highway received heavy rain for more than 30 minutes today, RMC, Chennai said.

Orange alert issued for next two days

The IMD has also issued an orange alert indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 22 and 23. “Orange alert for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal! Be prepared for heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) on November 22 and 23,” the IMD said in a post on Twitter. “The sky is likely to be partly cloudy. Light/moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas,” the statement said.
