Jammu. There is fear among Kashmiri Pandits after the recent several targeted killings by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. After these incidents, 10 Kashmiri Pandit families have left their village located in Shopian district and reached Jammu due to fear. The people of Choudharygund village said that the recent terrorist attacks have instilled a kind of fear among the Pandits who lived in Kashmir even during the toughest period of militancy in the 1990s and did not leave their homes.

It is noteworthy that on October 15, Kashmiri Pandit Puran Krishna Bhat was shot dead by terrorists outside his ancestral house in Chaudhrygund village of Shopian district. Apart from this, on October 18, Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar, who were sleeping in their rented house in Shopian, were killed in a grenade attack by terrorists. A man from Choudharygund village, who recently faced death threats, told the news agency, “Ten families comprising 35 to 40 Kashmiri Pandits have moved out of our village out of fear.”

He said that the village has now become empty due to the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Another villager said, ‘The situation is not favorable for us to live in the Kashmir Valley. We are living in fear because of the killings. There is no security for us.

Pandits being killed continuously in the valley
Significantly, in the last few days, Kashmiri Pandits have been targeted by terrorists continuously. Incidents of shooting of many laborers of UP and Bihar also came to light, after which there was a huge demonstration in the valley, but the situation remains the same. Meanwhile, in the midst of panic, Kashmiri Pandits are leaving the valley.
