Tripura Assembly Election: Home Minister Amit Shah will campaign in Tripura, election rallies will be held on 6 and 12 February

The counting of votes in all the three states will take place on March 2. Party sources said that Home Minister Amit Shah will hold public meetings in Nagaland and Meghalaya as well and the program is being finalised. The three electoral states of the Northeast may be small in terms of size, but hold great political importance. The BJP is taking all measures to retain power in Tripura and increase its hold in two other states. At the same time, the Congress and the Left parties are trying to regain their lost influence, especially in Tripura.

BJP shares seats with IPFT
One similarity in the Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland assembly elections is that the majority mark in all the three states is 31. The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shared seats with old ally Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) for the assembly elections. BJP will contest 55 and IPFT elections on 5 seats. Chief Minister Manik Saha will contest from Bardovali (city), the seat he won in the bypolls held last year.
