Udaipur: Consumers will feel ‘current’! Fuel surcharge for 6 months will be added to the electricity bill in April

Udaipur, The people of Rajasthan are going to get expensive electric shock. From the next month i.e. April 2023, fuel surcharge will start being added to the electricity bill across the state. Four lakh consumers of Udaipur district will be affected by the increase in electricity rates. In fact, increasing the fuel surcharge being added on a quarterly basis will cause more trouble than a one-time increase i.e. for six months. Regarding this situation, the experts of the power sector have said to lodge an objection in the Regulatory Commission.
In the name of coal purchase, the burden of fuel surcharge has been imposed on electricity consumers. In such a situation, an additional amount of 31 paise per unit will be added to the bill to be issued in April. Due to this, 562 crore rupees will be recovered from the power corporations in the state. The load will increase from Rs 150 to Rs 600 per consumer bill. Corporations have issued its orders. In such a situation, more amount will be added to the electricity bill of the next month.

Government will bear the cost of exemption
Let us tell you that the farmers are given relief in the agriculture electricity bill by the state government. At the same time, the BPL class is also given exemption on domestic electricity. In this case, the cost of fuel surcharge will be borne by the government if the subsidy is given. The increased electricity rates will affect four lakh houses in Udaipur district. Due to this, out of total 7.13 lakh consumers of the district, about 50 thousand agricultural electricity connections, 2.50 lakh BPL class connections have increased the cost of 4.13 lakh remaining connections.
SE Girish Kumar Joshi of Udaipur Circle said that the process of changing the tariff and adding fuel surcharge is done by the corporations through the Electricity Regulatory Commission. Electricity bills will be issued as per the order. Except those sections of consumers who are given subsidized electricity, other sections will come under the purview of the new rates. Further action will be taken as per the order of Ajmer Discom Headquarters. Will show transparency to consumers by showing accounts.
