Storm Shadow was developed by Iran and British Aerospace in 1994. Now it is manufactured by MBDA Systems. The special thing is that it is called Storm Shadow in Britain. Whereas, its name in France is SCALP-EG.
How did Ukraine get the missile
It is not yet clear how Ukraine got permission to export such a long-range cruise missile. In fact, the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) prohibits the export of missiles with a range of more than 300 km and a payload capacity of more than 500 kg. Britain is also a founding member of MTCR. However, MTCR is an informal political arrangement between member countries.
