Umran Malik is fit, starts preparing for Duleep Trophy after recovering from dengue

Fast bowler Umran Malik has recovered from dengue and has now started preparing for the Duleep Trophy. The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to start from 5 September 2024 at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Umran Malik is in Team C, along with players like Suryakumar Yadav, Rituraj Gaikwad, Sai Sudarshan and Rajat Patidar are present in the squad. Umran Malik is confident that he will perform well in this tournament.

Fast bowler Umran Malik has been out of the Indian team for a long time. There is speculation about his return. After recovering from dengue, Umran Malik told ANI, “I am feeling good and now I am going to start preparing for the Duleep Trophy at the NCA. I hope, I will do well for my team this season.” Malik’s last domestic season was not memorable and he took only four wickets in five matches at an average of 38.50 for Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24.

Earlier, he could not perform as expected in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well. Malik took six wickets in seven matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 at an economy of 8.26. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he conceded 68 runs in eight overs in the only match and could not take a single wicket. Umran did not get many opportunities in the last season of IPL as well. He conceded 15 runs in one match. The 24-year-old has participated in ten ODIs and eight T20 Internationals for India and has taken 24 wickets in both formats.
