Pauri Garhwal. In Uttarakhand, a local leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called off his daughter’s marriage to a Muslim youth under pressure from people. After the picture of the invitation card went viral on social media, there was a protest in the area, after which it was announced to cancel this marriage.

BJP leader Yashpal Benam said his daughter’s marriage to a Muslim man in Pauri Garhwal was called off with “mutual consent” of the groom’s family on Saturday after a photo of the wedding invitation went viral on social media. The marriage was to take place on 28 May. He said, ‘As a public representative, I did not want my daughter’s marriage to take place under the protection of police and administration. I respect public sentiments.

Both were getting married with consent
According to Anonymous, the marriage was fixed with the consent of both the families, but it had to be called off after certain things came to the fore. He said, ‘My daughter was about to get married to a Muslim youth. Keeping in mind the happiness and future of the children, both the families had decided to get them married, for which cards were also printed and shared. After the wedding invitation card went viral on social media, many reactions came out objecting to the marriage.

Decided not to perform marriage rituals
The BJP leader said, ‘After the dispute arose, with mutual consent, both the families decided not to perform the wedding rituals for the time being. However, he said that the decision regarding getting his daughter married will be taken in consultation with the family, well-wishers and the groom’s side.
