Olympic medalist wrestler and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yogeshwar Dutt says that Vinesh Phogat should apologize to the country for causing India to lose the medal. He has also targeted Phogat over her disqualification in the Olympics. Phogat has joined the Congress and is contesting from Julana seat in the Haryana assembly elections.
Dutt has also accused of creating a wrong image of the country. In a program of Aaj Tak, on Phogat joining Congress, he said, ‘Look, everyone has their own thing to do in politics. We came to BJP, Babita ji came to BJP, she has gone to Congress. But the country should know the truth. The things that happened in India in the last one year, whether it is disqualification in Olympics, agitation, creating a wrong image of India during the inauguration of the new Parliament.’
He further said that Phogat should apologize to the country, ‘First of all, if a player gets disqualified, then he should apologize to the country that I made a mistake, I have caused loss to the country’s medal. After this, it was given the form of a conspiracy. Allegations were made against the Prime Minister that the Prime Minister has kept us away as part of a conspiracy.’
Olympic medalist Dutt further said, ‘Everyone knows that anyone can be disqualified, even if the reason is one gram more. A wrong atmosphere was created in the country. Similarly, in this movement too, people were gathered by giving them wrong information. Even after causing a loss of medal to a country, a notion was created that wrong was done to Vinesh. If I were in her place, I would have apologized to the whole country that I could not carry my weight.’
He said, ‘But here people are being welcomed. They are abusing the Prime Minister. The tradition of welcoming people for mistakes which is prevalent in India is wrong.’ Dutt had joined BJP in the year 2019.
