Vishwa Hindu Parishad furious over Shazia Ilmi’s article, asked BJP to clear its stand

New Delhi: The issue of an article written by BJP’s national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi is gaining momentum. This article is related to the honor of the culprits in the Bilkis Bano rape case. Vishwa Hindu Parishad has strongly objected to this article and asked BJP to clear its stand in this matter. VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal said on an article written in an English newspaper that Shazia in her column has accused the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of respecting the convicts of the Bilkis Bano rape case.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) spokesperson Vinod Bansal said the Bharatiya Janata Party has to clarify whether it supports the views expressed by its spokesperson Shazia Ilmi in the article published in the newspaper. Bansal alleged that the article was a conspiracy to defame the VHP, an organization that works on the principle of treating every woman as a ‘mother’. Vinod Bansal said that Shazia Ilmi was comparing VHP to Jihadis. Bansal alleged that Ilmi’s article was based on messages received on WhatsApp.

Shazia Ilmi, in her article titled ‘Doing Right by Bilkis Bano’ on the early release of the 11 convicted in the Bilkis Bano case, said the incident betrayed her personal sense of justice. Vinod Bansal said that this article by Shazia Ilmi is a sign of poor knowledge or a perverted mindset. Bansal called Shazia Ilmi an imported spokesperson of the BJP as she had joined the party after leaving the Aam Aadmi Party.

According to VHP sources, the organization is also contemplating legal action against Shazia Ilmi. A senior VHP functionary said, “We will wait till the BJP makes its stand clear.
