We cannot allow religious sentiments to be hurt: Government sources on the postponement of the release of ‘Emergency’

The release of the film “Emergency” based on the Emergency period has been postponed for now. “Emergency” has not yet received any certificate from the Censor Board. The film team had already decided the release date of the film without taking permission from the Censor Board, but now its release has been postponed for now without the permission of the Board. According to government sources, the government does not want the religious sentiments of the people to be hurt in any way. The Censor Board has also said that some cuts will be made in it.

According to a report published in India Today, sources said that some religious organizations have expressed their concern about this film and said that their religious sentiments can be hurt by this film. The film has some sensitive content. This film has been directed by actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut and she has played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in it. The release date of this film has been postponed several times before and now it has been postponed.

Kangana had claimed that the members of the censor board were threatened

A few days before the film did not get permission from the censor board, BJP MP Kangana had claimed that the members of the censor board had received threats that it would not be good if they gave clearance to the film. She said that I have also received death threats. Kangana had said about this film that some people want me not to show Indira ji’s assassination, Punjab movement, Operation Blue Star in it, then I do not understand what will be left to show?

Controversy over the film started as soon as the trailer was released

The controversy over the film began a few weeks ago when its trailer was released on August 14. The trailer depicted Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, the leader of the Khalistani separatist movement, as a man who promised Congress votes in exchange for a separate Sikh state. After watching the trailer, people said that it showed only one side of the story by not showing important events like the bombing of the Akal Takht and the deaths that resulted from Blue Star.

After this, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee wrote a letter to the Censor Board and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging them to ban the screening of the film. The organization alleged that Sikhism has been portrayed in a wrong way in it. The organization fears that this may spread religious hatred.
