New Delhi. Rainfall in the northwestern parts of the country including Delhi for the last two days may reduce from today. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rainfall has decreased significantly in the north-west plains including Punjab, Haryana, West UP. Whereas due to the effect of Western Disturbance, light to heavy rain and snowfall is likely to continue in the hilly areas of Western Himalayas. During the next 24 hours, the weather will remain generally dry followed by light and scattered rains over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. At present, there is a possibility of strong winds of 20-30 kmph in the plains of northwest India till February 1.
The IMD has also predicted a drop of two to three degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature in many parts of northwest India till February 1 and an increase of two to four degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature thereafter. In the eastern parts of the country, the minimum temperature is expected to increase by two to four degrees Celsius till February 1 and fall thereafter. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is expected to drop by two to four degrees Celsius in many parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh during the next two days.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining east equatorial Indian Ocean has moved west-northwestwards and concentrated into a depression. The IMD said in its weather bulletin that it is likely to cross the Sri Lankan coast on February 1. Due to this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain at most places in South Tamil Nadu on February 1 and 2. There is also a possibility of heavy rain in some places. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai districts and Karaikal area.
