Weather Update: Latest update from Meteorological Department regarding snowfall and harsh winter, forecast of heavy rain here

Severe winter is occurring in many states

New Delhi: Severe winter has started in North India. Talking about hilly states, there is snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Uttarakhand. There may be snowfall at many places in the coming 24 hours. Due to its effect, the chill has increased in the plains. At the same time, due to Michang cyclone in Southern India, it is raining in some states. According to the Meteorological Department, during the next 24 hours, heavy rain may occur over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The maximum impact of rain can be seen in Chennai. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in some areas of Chhattisgarh also.

Chances of rain in Chhattisgarh

According to the information received, unseasonal light rain occurred in Raipur city and other parts of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Due to which the temperature dropped. Meteorological Department officials said that due to the Michong cyclonic storm, there was light rain in Durg, Bilaspur, Bastar and Raipur divisions of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, the lowest temperature of 16.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Pendrarod of the state and the highest temperature was 26.3 degrees Celsius in Dantewada. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of light or moderate rain in many parts of the state on Wednesday, while at some places in the state there is a possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorm as well as strong winds. Officials said temperatures are likely to drop across the state.

Cold wave increases in Kashmir

In Kashmir, the cold has increased with the mercury dropping below zero in most parts of the valley. The mercury was recorded at minus 4.3 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, which is one of the base camps of the Amarnath Yatra, officials said on Tuesday. It was the coldest place in the valley on Monday night. Gulmarg in Baramulla district recorded minus 2.3 degrees Celsius while Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius for the first time in five days, officials said.

He said that Qazigund recorded a temperature of minus 1.6 degrees Celsius whereas the day before it was minus 0.4 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department said that the sky will be generally cloudy but the weather will remain mainly dry till December 10.

Delhi’s climate

Cold has increased in Delhi-NCR also. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality in Delhi is in the ‘very poor’ category. There is light fog in the morning in NCR including Delhi and Noida. Moderate level fog is expected till December 10.

Weather in other parts of the country

The weather will be dry in most areas of the country like UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. It is winter in these states. Fog is also falling in the morning and evening. No significant change is expected in the weather during the coming 24 hours.
