Kolkata. Four people have been arrested in connection with the bomb blast at a school in Titagarh area of ​​North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The Barrackpore Police Commissionerate official said that the accused, aged 18-19 years, were apprehended from Kamarhati and Titagarh areas around midnight. He said- We are trying to find out all possible aspects by questioning them. One of those arrested is from Kamarhati, while the rest are from Titagarh.

On Saturday, a country-made bomb exploded on the roof of the school building while studying in the classroom. Police said there were no casualties in the incident as students and teachers were in rooms located on the first two floors of the three-storey building. The official said that preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had changed their initial intention to hurl a powerful country-made bomb at the school gate as there was a crowd at the spot. They said that they had climbed onto the roof of an adjoining building to carry out the act.

The official said that three of those arrested are former students of the school. Personal enmity between the accused and some other students of the school is believed to be the primary motive behind the incident. He said that during the search operation at the residence of one of the accused, 10 country-made bombs were found.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice-president Dilip Ghosh said Saturday’s incident points to the fact that “even school students in West Bengal cannot feel safe”. Countering Ghosh’s remarks, TMC MP Saugata Roy said- ‘Police is doing its job and investigation is on.’ The Lok Sabha member from Dum Dum alleged- ‘BJP should not politicize this, which gives protection to miscreants.’ On Saturday, BJP’s Hooghly Lok Sabha member Locket Chatterjee had demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
