Araria. A watchman who had gone to jail to deliver prisoners from Sikti to Araria Mandal Jail was brutally beaten up by jail policemen. The injury was so severe that the watchman had to be admitted to the hospital. According to Araria SP Ashok Kumar Singh, the jail constable brutally assaulted the watchman of Sikti police station who had gone to take prisoners to Araria Mandal Jail. A case has also been registered in this regard in Araria city police station.
According to information, Chowkidar Amit Kumar Paswan of Sikti police station had brought three prisoners from Sikti police station with his colleagues Chowkidar Shankar Paswan, Chowkidar Prakash Paswan, Chowkidar Anmol Paswan and Chowkidar Panchanand Rishidev from Sikti police station. As per the order of the Hon’ble Court, all the three prisoners were directed to be sent to Mandal Jail Araria.
To comply with the instructions, all the watchmen reached Mandal Jail Araria at around 6.30 pm with all the three prisoners and requested to deposit the said three prisoners in Mandal Jail. Meanwhile, the jail constable posted at the entrance of Mandal Jail Araria gave 20 rupees to the watchman Amit Kumar Paswan and told him to first bring water from outside the jail gate, then the prisoner would be deposited.
