Who is Putin supporting in the US presidential election: The US presidential election is scheduled to be held on November 5, 2024. This election is considered important around the world, as its results have a profound impact on global politics, trade, security and other areas. This election is especially important for Russia, which is fighting a war with US-backed Ukraine. In such a situation, the question arises as to whom the Russian President would like to see as the next US President!
Who is Putin supporting in the US elections?
Russian President Vladimir Putin himself has revealed this. Putin has unexpectedly announced his support for US Vice President Kamala Harris against former President Donald Trump. He made this announcement during the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok on 5 September. This statement came at a time when the Biden administration has accused Russia of interfering in the US presidential election. Now Putin’s comment has given rise to a new discussion in international politics, because earlier there was talk of good relations between Russia and Trump.
The day after the US accusations, Putin insisted that President Joe Biden was the country’s “preferred” leader when he was running for re-election. He said that when Biden withdrew from the election race in July and handed over the reins to Kamala Harris, Russia would now support him. He said that Russia is fully ready to support the new Democratic presidential candidate.
Russia announces new presidential candidate as “favorite”
“I have told you about our favorite leader… if you can call it that, I would name the current president Biden. He has withdrawn from the race, but he has recommended to all his supporters to support Kamala Harris. So we will do the same. We will support her (Kamala Harris),” the Russian president said on Thursday. However, he later said that the power to choose their “favorite” leader lies with the American people. He said that Russia will “respect the choice (which the American people will make).”
Speaking further on the Harris vs Trump front, Putin said that the Republican presidential candidate (Donald Trump) has “imposed more sanctions and restrictions against Russia than any president before. If Kamala Harris is doing well, maybe she will refrain from such actions.” Though Trump has praised Putin several times, Putin has been calling Biden a “more experienced, more predictable” leader.
