Who is R Venkataramani?
Born on 13 April 1950 in Pondicherry, Venkataramani was enrolled as an advocate in Tamil Nadu Bar Council in July 1977. R Venkataramani is an Advocate with 42 years of experience in Supreme Court. After joining the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in July 1977, he worked with senior Supreme Court advocate PP Rao in 1979.
Subsequently, Venkataramani established an independent practice in the Supreme Court in 1982. He was nominated as a Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court in 1997. He was then appointed Member of Law Commission in 2010 and again in 2013 for another term.

Venkataramani has practiced in various branches of law mainly constitutional law, indirect taxes law, human rights law, civil and criminal law, consumer law as well as law related to services. He has also represented the Central Government, several State Governments, Universities, Public Sector Undertakings in his major litigation in the Supreme Court and High Courts.
