Former vice-president of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union and researcher Shehla Rashid has praised the central government in a conversation with a news agency. There was a time when Shehla used to strongly criticize BJP and PM Modi, but in a recent interview she is seen praising Modi and Shah. Shehla Rashid said in a podcast with ANI that the Centre’s efforts have brought positive changes in the valley. During this, Shehla said that I am ready to have any kind of debate on this.
Expressed regret over the post made against the armed forces
In fact, the former vice president of JNU Students Union came into limelight in 2016 after the controversy arising out of alleged anti-national slogans on the JNU campus. After this, he had also tweeted against the armed forces deployed in Kashmir Valley, on which a case of treason was also registered against him. In a podcast with ANI, Shehla Rashid also expressed regret over her post on social media in August 2019 accusing Army officials of human rights abuses.
What did you say in praise of Prime Minister Modi?
Talking about the situation in Kashmir, Shehla said that Kashmir is not Gaza. She said that for the change in Kashmir, I would like to give credit to PM Modi, who set a political situation which was bloodless. During this, Shehla Rashid was asked that in earlier times, did you sympathize with the stone pelters? On this she said that yes, it was so in 2010, but today when I see the changed situation, I am very grateful for today’s situation. I would like to give credit to the present government, especially the Prime Minister, for the changed situation.

Former Vice President of JNU Students Union, Shehla said on the changed situation in Kashmir that for this I would also like to give credit to Home Minister Amit Shah, who has ensured such a political situation for this, which should be called bloodless. Praising Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Shehla Rashid said that Kashmiri mothers will be grateful to Amit Shah. During this, he appreciated the efforts made by the Center for the development of Kashmir.
Approval to prosecute Shehla Rashid
It is noteworthy that Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has given permission to prosecute former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) leader Shehla Rashid Shora in the case of alleged controversial tweet about the Indian Army a few months ago. . According to officials of the Lieutenant Governor’s office, the permission is related to an FIR lodged in 2019 against Shora. He said the sanction for the trial has been granted under Section 196 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973, which deals with prosecution for offenses against the state and criminal conspiracy to commit such offences.
