Mumbai: No representative of the Samajwadi Party was present in the Maha Vikas Aghadi meeting held in Maharashtra on Friday. When SP leader Abu Asim Azmi was asked why no one from his party attended the meeting, he said that he was informed about the meeting at the last moment. Azmi said that there was a lack of coordination in this matter and mismanagement was done by the leaders. In Maharashtra, the Samajwadi Party has demanded 12 Vidhan Sabha seats under the MVA alliance.

‘The list has been given to Rahul and Venugopal’

On not being able to attend the Maha Vikas Aghadi meeting, Azmi said, ‘It is like I got a call only yesterday evening. They did not inform us earlier. If I and Raees Sheikh have to come, and our people have to be brought, and if you have to hold a meeting, then first of all you should divide the seats. You just call. We will contest the elections, tell us who will contest from where. We have demanded 12 seats. Our leader Akhilesh Yadav has given the list to Rahul Gandhi and Venugopal.’

‘If we fight separately, the situation will be the same as before’

Abu Azmi also talked about the rift between Congress and SP over seat sharing in the upcoming by-elections on 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. On the issue of the rift affecting the elections, Azmi said, ‘If there is no coordination among themselves and everyone considers themselves strong, then the same thing will happen as happened earlier. Fight where you have strength. If you fight separately, then the situation will be the same as before.’ Let us tell you that the SP-Congress alliance in UP had caused a lot of damage to the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.

Azmi also spoke about AIMIM joining MVA

When asked that the meeting held in Shanmukhanand Hall was already announced, then why were you informed so late, Azmi said, ‘Now you should ask this from those people. I got a call from Sanjay Raut yesterday. I am not angry but there is definitely mismanagement and lack of coordination somewhere.’ When told that AIMIM also wants to come with MVA, Abu Azmi said, ‘I think I am a very small leader in this matter. Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress should decide.’
