The officer alleged in the letter, “The CBI was entrusted with the investigation as it was a scam involving alleged misappropriation of thousands of crores of rupees collected from the public due to the patronage of people holding high positions. “

He wrote, “The CBI was expected to clamp down on the person holding the highest position in the system.” The official alleged that Banerjee’s association with Sharda dates back to the time when she was the railway minister in the second United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. He wrote, “Is that why the CBI is hesitating? Or has the height of her (Banerjee’s) chair made them reluctant to act against her?”

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh told the news agency that the officer had joined the BJP “to wash away the stains of his corruption”. He said, “The officer himself should not throw stones at other’s house while living in a glass house. Saradha chief Sudipta Sen had named him (the officer) as one of the main beneficiaries.” Ghosh said, “The officials have entered the BJP’s ‘washing machine’ to wash away the stains of their corruption. It is clear that he has no shame of himself. Why are the agencies not taking action against Shubhendu? Central agencies are showing favoritism towards them.”
