Rahul got a total of 706367 votes while his rival candidate PP Sunir of the Communist Party of India got a total of 274597 votes. The difference between victory and defeat between the two was 4,31,770 votes.
Congress got success in 2014
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections also, Congress gave ticket to MI Shanavas and he defeated CPI candidate PR Satyan Mukri by more than 20 thousand votes. Shanavas got a total of 3,77,035 votes while Satyan Mukeri got 356165 votes. There are more than 12.5 lakh voters on this Lok Sabha seat.
In 2009, MI Shanwas won the election with a margin of Rs 1.5 lakh.
In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, MI Shanwas of Congress had won by more than 1.5 lakh votes. He defeated Communist Party of India candidate M. Rahmatullah. Shanavas got 410703 votes while M. Rahmatullah got 257264 votes. The difference between victory and defeat was 153439 votes.
How many phases of elections were held in 2014 and 2019?
Wayanda seat, which is considered a Congress stronghold, was won by Congress continuously in 2009, 2014 and 2019. NDA got immense success in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the government was formed at the center under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
