Will Kejriwal leave the Civil Lines bungalow after becoming the Delhi CM? BJP had raised questions on the renovation

Arvind Kejriwal has been living in this bungalow located on Flagstaff Road since he assumed the CM post for the second consecutive time in 2015. After being elected Chief Minister for the first time in 2013, he lived in the bungalow located on Tilak Lane, which he vacated after leaving the post within 49 days.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is going to resign from his post today. Along with leaving the post, he will also vacate the Chief Minister’s bungalow located in Civil Lines in a few weeks. He lives here with his wife, children and parents. Party sources gave information about this on Monday.

Kejriwal, who was out on bail after being arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case, had announced his decision to step down at a meeting with party workers and leaders on Sunday. He said that since the hearing of the case is likely to take a long time to complete, he wants to go to the people’s court to prove his innocence. He said, “Unless you vote for me again, I will not sit on the CM chair.”

According to a report by The Indian Express, sources said the party wants the new chief minister to move into the Civil Lines CM residence soon. The bungalow has been mired in controversy. The BJP had questioned the cost of its renovation in 2020-21 and alleged irregularities.

Arvind Kejriwal has been living in this bungalow located on Flagstaff Road since he assumed the post of Chief Minister for the second consecutive time in 2015. After being elected Chief Minister for the first time in 2013, Kejriwal lived in the bungalow located on Tilak Lane, which he vacated after leaving the post within 49 days.

After resigning, he went back to his home in Kaushambi, Ghaziabad, where he was earlier living with his family. This government accommodation was allotted to his wife, who was an IRS officer like him. She took voluntary retirement in 2016.

Several party functionaries have offered Kejriwal accommodation. A party leader said Kejriwal is likely to stay in Delhi and his constituency New Delhi. The party is considering all options. Since he is the president of a national party, Kejriwal may also be given accommodation by the government. However, this happens only when the leader has not been allotted any other government accommodation.
