Loksabha Elections 2024 : Political excitement has started increasing regarding the Lok Sabha elections. All the parties have started preparations in full swing. In this series, AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) leader Asaduddin Owaisi is also now focusing more on his traditional seat Hyderabad. Hyderabad is one of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. Asuddin Owaisi is MP from this seat. Malakpet, Chandrayangutta, Caravan, Bahadurpura, Charminar, Yakutpura, Goshamahal assembly constituencies come under Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
The literacy rate of Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency is 73.34%. This seat comes in general category. This is a minority dominated Lok Sabha seat. The number of Muslim voters here is about 1,155,016 which is about 59% of the total voters. According to the 2011 census, there are 82,233 SC voters in this seat, which is about 4.2% of the total voters. ST voters are around 25,453 which is around 1.3% as per 2011 census. According to the data of 2019 parliamentary elections, the total number of voters in Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat is 1957931. In 2019, a total of 44.8% voting took place here.
From 1984 to 1999, Asaduddin Owaisi’s father Sultan Salauddin Owaisi continued winning elections from this seat. For the first time in 2004, Owaisi contested the Lok Sabha elections from this seat and since then till 2019, he has been continuously winning the Lok Sabha elections. Now it remains to be seen whether Owaisi’s winning streak on the Hyderabad seat continues in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or whether the fort of Owaisi’s magic collapses.
2019 Lok Sabha elections
AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi won the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat by defeating BJP’s Dr. Bhagwant Rao by a margin of 2,82,186 votes. Asaduddin Owaisi got a total of 5,17,471 votes. Dr. Bhagwant Rao got 2,35,285 votes. At the third position was P Srikanth of TRS (now BRS), who got a total of 63,239 votes. A total of 16 candidates contested the elections in this constituency. Voting took place in Telangana on 11 April 2019 and the election results were declared on 23 May.
2014 Lok Sabha elections
Owaisi had won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections by more than two lakh votes. He defeated BJP candidate Dr. Bhagwant Rao. Asaduddin Owaisi got a total of 5,13,868 votes while BJP candidate Dr. Bhagwant Rao got a total of 3,11,414 votes. Congress’s S Krishna Reddy stood third. Krishna Reddy had received a total of 49,310 votes.
2009 Lok Sabha elections
Asaduddin Owaisi had also won the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Owaisi got a total of 3,08,061 votes in this election. He defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate Zahid Ali Khan.
When were the elections held in the year 2019?
The Election Commission had announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections on March 10, 2019. Lok Sabha elections were held across the country in a total of seven phases. These elections ran from 11 April to 19 May. The counting of votes took place on 23 May. In Telangana, Lok Sabha voting took place in the first phase on 11 April 2014.
When were the elections held in the year 2014?
Whereas in 2014, Lok Sabha elections were held in 10 phases. The elections started on 7 April 2014 and continued till 30 April 2014. The first phase of voting was held on 7 April, the second phase on 9 April, the third phase on 10 April, the fourth phase on 11 April, the fifth phase on 12 April, the sixth phase on 17 April, the seventh phase on 24 April, the 8th phase on 30 April. Voting was held in the 9th phase on 7 May and the tenth phase on 12 May.
