Will President’s rule be imposed in West Bengal? Governor CV Anand Bose replied

West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has launched a major attack on the Mamata Banerjee government over the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. He said that the atrocities and scams in Bengal have made the lives of common people difficult. He held Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responsible for the situation in Bengal. He said that two medical students told him that their family wanted him to leave this profession.

In an interview to NDTV, Anand Bose said that a room in the Raj Bhavan has been opened in the name of the trainee doctor who was found dead in RG Kar Hospital. He said that the doctor has been named ‘Abhaya’. If any doctor ever gets threatened or feels scared, he can become a guest of this room in the Raj Bhavan. Regarding the protests and vandalism in the hospital after this murder, the Governor said that hooliganism and scams have increased a lot in the state and it has become difficult for the common people to live.

He said, medical students say that they should be given security. There are no security arrangements inside the campus. Some girl students said that their parents are asking them to leave the profession. They say that life is more important than any profession. On the other hand, doctors are not ready to serve in villages because there is a lot of hooliganism there. He said that what happens on the streets of West Bengal in the name of politics. This is not my job but this is spreading fear in the society. There is only violence in Bengal.

He said that Gopalkrishna Gokhale had said that whatever Bengal thinks today, India will think the same tomorrow. Rabindranath Tagore had also said the same thing that there is a need for a democracy where there is no fear in the minds of the people. But where is the Bengal of his dreams now? As a governor, I worry about this.

Will President’s rule be imposed?

On the opposition’s demand for President’s rule in West Bengal, the Governor said that a demand is a demand. Now we have to see what happens. As a governor, I understand the situation. There are many options in the Constitution. I do not want to come in the middle of too many people. However, whatever has to be done will be done within the ambit of the Constitution. He said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is responsible for the situation in Bengal.
