The tenure of Maharashtra and Haryana assemblies is ending in November and that of Jharkhand in January.

Talking about Jammu and Kashmir, there is no assembly here for five years. After hearing the petitions against the removal of Article 370, the Supreme Court had said that elections should be held here by 30 September. For the last three times, the assembly elections of Haryana and Maharashtra have been held together. However, before that the elections of these states were held separately. This time too, there is a possibility of Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections being held separately.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and his colleagues Gyanesh Kumar and SS Sandhu were in Jammu and Kashmir between 8 and 9 August. They met the concerned officials regarding the preparations for the elections. This week, other officials along with the Chief Election Commissioner reached Chandigarh. On 9 August, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, the time has come for the dream of democracy that the people here have seen to come true. The public participated in the festival of democracy in the Lok Sabha elections in long queues. And now the public will participate in the assembly elections in the same way.

After visiting Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Election Commissioner met Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla. He demanded security arrangements for conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources, arrangements will also be needed for the security of the candidates in Jammu and Kashmir. This time, there is a possibility of more candidates contesting the assembly elections. According to information, this time an average of 15 to 20 candidates can contest on each assembly seat. There are 90 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. In such a situation, the Election Commission can demand 16 thousand security forces for the security of the candidates.
