Guinness World Records: You must have heard till now that a human being has a maximum of 32 teeth in his mouth, but if we say that a woman has not 32 teeth but 38 teeth in her mouth, then you will also be surprised to hear this. This is true and this Indian woman has made a Guinness World Record. Kalpana Balan now holds the record for the most teeth in a woman’s mouth, six times the normal adult number. According to Guinness World Records, the mother of a child has four extra mandibular (lower jaw) teeth and two extra maxillary (upper jaw) teeth.
Regarding this, Kalpana told that in her adolescence, she experienced the gradual emergence of her extra teeth, which grew one by one. Despite experiencing no pain, he faced challenges in eating as food would often get stuck between the extra teeth. When his parents discovered this extra set of teeth, they were surprised and talked about having them removed.

However, Kalpana’s dentist suggested she wait until the teeth were older because they could not be easily removed, Guinness World Records said in a release. Kalpana then decided to keep the teeth safe even after they were fully grown, as she was afraid of going through the process. After achieving the feat, Balan said, “I am very happy to receive the Guinness World Records title. This is my lifetime achievement.”
More teeth may still appear
Kalpana Balan may be able to increase her record in the future as two of her teeth are not yet filled. The men’s record for this title is held by Canada’s Ivano Malone, who has a total of 41 teeth. “The medical term for the presence of extra teeth is hyperdontia or polydontia. 3.8% of the world’s population has one or more extra teeth. Hyperdontia is the result of a malfunction in the process of tooth formation, although its exact cause is unknown. It is believed that “Extra teeth develop from an extra tooth growing near a regular tooth, or possibly from the loss of a regular tooth.”
