Yellow alert for heavy rain in 10 districts of Himachal Pradesh, 72 roads closed; How will the weather be for the whole week

A big update has come regarding the weather of Himachal Pradesh. 72 roads are closed due to heavy rains in the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains in many districts of the state on September 2. People had heaved a sigh of relief due to the absence of heavy rains and cloudbursts in the state for the last few days, but there is a possibility of heavy rains in the first week of September as well. Yellow alert for heavy rain in 10 districts

According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, a warning of heavy rainfall has been issued in the plains and mid-mountain areas on September 2. The Meteorological Department has predicted thunder and lightning in these areas on September 3. Issuing a yellow alert in the remaining 10 districts except Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur, people have been advised to be cautious and take precautions while going out of their homes. It has also been appealed that people should stay away from rivers and streams and not travel to landslide prone areas.

How long will the bad weather last?

The weather is expected to remain bad throughout the state till September 6. According to the Meteorological Department, the state has received 23 percent less rainfall than normal from June 1 to August 30. In the month of August, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kangra, Mandi and Bilaspur districts received more than normal rainfall, while the remaining seven districts received less rainfall. The monsoon arrived in the state on June 27. The monsoon leaves the state in the first week of October.

It rained in these places

During the last 24 hours, the maximum rainfall of 44 mm was recorded in Sundernagar, 43 mm in Shilaru, 20 mm in Jubbarhatti, 17 mm in Manali, 15 mm in Shimla, 11 mm each in Slappad and Dalhousie and 8 mm in Ghumarur.

Traffic halted on 34 roads of Shimla

Meanwhile, due to the widespread rainfall in the past few days, people are facing difficulties in commuting as the speed of vehicles has come to a halt on many roads. According to the report of the State Emergency Operation Centre, till Saturday morning, 72 roads of the state were blocked due to landslides. The maximum number of 34 roads are closed in Shimla district. 15 roads are blocked in Mandi, 10 in Kangra, nine in Kullu and one each in Lahaul Spiti, Sirmaur and Una. A bridge has also been damaged in Indora of Kangra district. Apart from this, six electricity transformers in Kullu, three in Chamba and one in Mandi district are also out of order. 19 drinking water schemes in Bilaspur and 13 in Chamba are also disrupted.

Monsoon caused loss of Rs 1265 crore, 175 houses collapsed

Monsoon has caused heavy loss of life and property in the last two months. According to the Emergency Operations Center, monsoon has caused damage to movable and immovable property worth Rs. 1265 crores. During this period, 175 houses were completely destroyed, while 475 houses were partially damaged. 58 shops and 462 cattle sheds were also completely destroyed. During this period, 270 people died and 30 are missing in rain-related accidents. There were 88 incidents of cloudburst, flood and landslides in two months.
