New Delhi: Former India coach Ravi Shastri has advised in-form Virat Kohli to take a break for the second time in a week, even if the star batsman pulls out of the Indian Premier League for it. Veteran batsman Kohli has been going through a bad phase for quite some time and has not been able to score a century in any format for more than two years.
Shastri told Jatin Sapru on his YouTube channel, ‘I think the break would be ideal for him as he has been playing cricket consistently and has captained the team in all formats. It would be wise for him to take a break. Sometimes you have to strike a balance. He is playing in this year tournament (IPL 2022). If you want to prolong your career and leave a mark for six to seven years, then get out of IPL.

Shastri stressed on the importance of breaks in a player’s career amid a hectic schedule. Shastri said, ‘Not only Virat, I would say to any other player. If you want to play for India and do well, you have to decide when to take a break and the ideal break would be when there is an ‘off’ season and India is not playing and the only time India is not It is IPL time to play.
