New Delhi: The schedule of the 50-over World Cup to be held in India later this year is likely to be announced during the final of the World Test Championship in London. Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) secretary Jai Shah gave this information after the Board’s Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday. The decision regarding the organization of Asia Cup 2023 will also be taken soon. Members of the Asian Cricket Council, who are here to watch Sunday’s final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, are likely to discuss the Asia Cup. The Asia Cup is to be held before the World Cup. “The match venues of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be announced at the press conference during the ICC World Test Championship final,” Shah said. The complete schedule of the tournament will also be released. He said, ‘The future of Asia Cup 2023 will be decided after the meeting between the Test playing countries and the members of the Associate countries of the Asian Cricket Council’ BCCI Secretary informed that for the fans Keeping in view the proper facility, 15 stadiums have been selected now while some more stadiums will be added later.
The responsibility of this work has been entrusted to Grant Thornton. BCCI will also announce some special committees within a week which will handle the work related to the World Cup and Women’s Premier League to be held in India. Apart from this, there will also be a committee to draft the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policy.
Shah said, “As far as the match venues of the ICC Cricket World Cup are concerned, each official will be responsible for each match venue. We are looking at all the metros as match venues for the tournament. Along with this, the proposed limited overs series between India and Afghanistan will be played before the World Cup but its dates and match venues have not been decided yet.
