Make Bathua’s stuffed parathas from grandmother’s recipe, you will be tempted to eat them again and again.

Parathas are eaten the most in winter. You must have eaten a lot of parathas made of potato, cabbage, radish and fenugreek, but you would hardly have eaten parathas stuffed with Bathua. Even today in the villages, sisters and grandmothers make very tasty and spicy Bathua parathas. By the way, in most of the houses, Bathua parathas are made by mixing it with flour. Parathas can be prepared easily by mixing bathua in flour, but to make bathua stuffed parathas, you will have to adopt this trick. Bathua’s stuffed parathas taste so tasty that after eating them once, you will be tempted to eat them again and again. Know the recipe for making Bathua stuffed parathas.

Ingredients to make Bathua Stuffed Parathas

To make parathas, you have to take about 2 cups of wheat flour. For this take 4 cups of Bathua leaves. 1/2 tsp cumin powder is required. 1/2 tsp ground celery and 1 pinch of asafoetida are required. To mix in bathua, mix 2 chopped green chillies, some red chilli and salt. Oil is needed to make parathas and water is needed to knead the dough.

Recipe to make Bathua Stuffed Parathas

  1. To make Bathua stuffed parathas, first clean the Bathua and keep it for boiling.
  2. Remove only the thick roots of Bathua, leaving the thin stalks intact. Wash the bathua with clean water 2-3 times and then keep it for boiling.
  3. If you want, you can cut it thickly and keep it for boiling.
  4. Bathua can also be boiled in a wok or pan and if you are boiling it in a cooker then use only 1 whistle.
  5. To boil Bathua, put about half a cup of water in the vessel.
  6. When the bathua boils, let it cool down and drain out the water by squeezing it tightly with your hands.
  7. All the water has to be drained thoroughly. Now filter the bathua water and use it for making flour.
  8. Grind the squeezed Bathua lightly in a sieve or mixer.
  9. Mix salt, cumin powder, celery, asafoetida, green chilli and red chilli in it.
  10. Now make some soft flour for making parathas. If you want, you can also add green water from Bathua in it.
  11. You can also mix some salt in the flour to taste and if you wish, you can also add 1-2 spoons of oil.
  12. Now break a ball from the dough and make it bigger by rolling it lightly or expanding it with your hands.
  13. Place one tablespoon of the prepared Bathua filling in the middle and close the dough.
  14. Apply dry flour, roll the paratha slowly and gently and put it on the pan.
  15. Now apply ghee and fry the paratha until it becomes pink from both the sides.
  16. Bathua’s stuffed paratha is ready, eat it with sauce, chutney, butter or curd.
