Aadhaar Card Update: Government amended the rule, it will be mandatory to update Aadhaar once in 10 years

New Delhi. If you got your Aadhaar card made 10 years ago, then this news is for you. Actually, the government has made amendments in the Aadhaar rule. Under this, it will be necessary to update the relevant documents at least once after the completion of 10 years from the date of obtaining the Aadhaar number.

According to the news agency PTI, according to the notification published in the gazette letter issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, updating of Aadhaar will ensure the accuracy of the relevant information in the Central Identity Data Repository (CIDR) on an ongoing basis. “Aadhaar holders can update documents containing identity and residence proof at least once on completion of every 10 years from the date of enrollment of Aadhaar,” the notification said. This will ensure the accuracy of Aadhaar-linked information in CIDR on an ongoing basis.

Changes in the provision of Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations
Changes have been made in the provision of Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations regarding updating of information. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the issuing body of Aadhaar numbers, had last month urged people that if they have completed more than 10 years of having an Aadhaar number and have not updated the relevant information again, they can And get the residence proof documents updated.

UIDAI has developed ‘Update Document’ feature
To provide convenience to the Aadhaar holders, UIDAI has developed the feature of ‘Update Document’. This facility can be used online through ‘My Aadhaar’ portal and ‘My Aadhaar’ app. The concerned person can also visit any Aadhaar Enrollment Center to avail this facility.

Through the new facility, Aadhaar holders can re-verify relevant information by updating documents such as Identity Certificate (containing name and photograph) and Domicile Certificate (containing name and address). So far 134 crore Aadhaar numbers have been issued. How many Aadhaar holders will need to update their details after the latest move by UIDAI is not known at the moment.
