Anant Goenka: Meet Anant Goenka, the heir to the Rs 33,000 crore RPG Group

New Delhi. Anant Goenka, Managing Director and CEO of tire maker CEAT Limited, has resigned from his post. However, he has been made the vice chairman of the company. In the year 2012, Anant Goenka was made the MD and CEO of the company. CEAT says that Arnab Banerjee has been appointed as the MD & CEO of CEAT New for 2 years. Will take charge from 1 April 2023. CEAT Ltd said in a regulatory filing that he will continue as a board member. The company has performed brilliantly during his tenure. The stock has gained 40 per cent in a year. At the same time, the stock has given 100 per cent return in three years.

The board of the company has approved the appointment of Goenka as a non-executive non-independent director, designated as the vice chairman of the company with effect from April 1, 2023. CEAT said that Anant Goenka will now do strategic work at the group level for his next phase. Goenka had said in an interview earlier this year that the company’s vision is to focus on the passenger and off-highway tire (OHT) segments. Through this, the company wants to cross the $2 billion mark in revenue in the near term.

Anant Goenka is the son of RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka. The heir to the Rs 33,000-crore RPG Group, Ananth led the company during a period of 10 years in which the company’s market capitalization grew from Rs 370 crore to Rs 5,800 crore. Anant is a fitness freak, he likes to play squash. He has done MBA from Kellogg School of Management. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to CEAT, Ananth was with KEC International. According to the RPG Group website, he has also worked in multinational companies such as Hindustan Unilever Limited, Accenture and Morgan Stanley. He was also the President of the Automotive Tire Manufacturers Association (ATMA) in 2013. He was recognized as the ‘Next Generation Business Leader of the Year’ in 2017 by Forbes Magazine and ‘India’s 40-under-40 Business Leaders’ by The Economic Times-Spencer Stuart.
