New Delhi. An art expert has been fired by a prestigious auction house in France for underestimating a priceless vase. Art experts estimated the cost of a Chinese vase at Rs 1,61,277. Whereas, the vase was auctioned for Rs 661,831,184. On this matter, the auction house dismissed the art expert for erring in estimating the value of the vase. This Chinese vase was bought by a person from China in the auction.
According to a report in Moneycontrol, French news site Le Parisien has reported that auction house Oceanette suspected something wrong when people from China also arrived to see this vase decorated with carvings of dragons and clouds. In the pre-auction inspection, the bidders had brought magnifying glasses. The owner of the auction house, Jean-Pierre Osenet, said that there were a huge number of applications for bidding for this vase and he had to stop the registration for it.

Auction was held on Saturday
The vase was auctioned on Saturday by the Oceanette Auction House in Fontainebleau, near Paris. Rounded torso This vase with a long cylindrical neck measures 21X16 inches. Cloud and dragon are made on it. Jean-Pierre Osenet, president of the auction house, said that the vase is made of the 20th century. Its owner was a woman who hails from Brittany in north-western France and is currently living abroad. She had brought many things from her late grandmother’s house, including this vase.
The grandmother of the vase owner was fond of art. He had this vase for 30 years. How special it is, it was known even before the auction when many people started arriving to see it. Around 300-400 people showed interest in buying this vase. 30 people were given a chance to participate in the auction.

Auction house reported serious mistake
Explaining the reason for sacking its art expert, the auction house said, “The expert made a mistake. 300 buyers can’t be wrong. That was working for us, now isn’t. After all, he had made a serious mistake.”
