Children’s organization sent notice to Amazon, warns of legal action if country head does not appear on November 1, know the matter

New Delhi. The e-commerce platform Amazon has come under the radar of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). The Commission has issued a notice to Amit Agarwal, Global Senior Vice President and India Head of Amazon India, for alleged funding given to the All India Mission, an organization involved in illegal activities. According to news agency PTI, the commission has asked Amit Agarwal, country head of Amazon India, to appear before the commission on November 1. At the same time, the commission has warned that if Agarwal does not appear, then legal action can be taken against him.

Significantly, on September 16, the apex child rights organization had issued a notice to Amazon India seeking an explanation for allegedly funding the All India Mission. The NCPCR, in a notice to Amazon India, had asked the e-commerce platform to look into the matter and provide information about the company-funded All India Mission and some other orphanages. All India Mission, an NGO registered in the US and UK, is accused of wrongful conversion of children.

Country head will have to present
PTI has reported that the commission had asked Amazon to submit an action taken report in this matter within seven days. But, till now the commission has not received any reply from Amazon. The NCPCR has said that Amit Agarwal, Country Head, Amazon India, will now have to appear before the commission on November 1, 2022, to explain the reason for the delay in filing the reply. Along with this, they will also have to provide the details of the action taken so far on the information sought by the commission.

All India Mission is accused of converting children
The NGO All India Mission is accused of being involved in illegal activities. Social Justice Forum, an NGO in Arunachal Pradesh, in a complaint to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, alleged that the All India Mission was illegally converting children in India. All India Mission is registered in US and UK.
