New Delhi. An 8-lane green expressway is being constructed to go from Delhi to Dehradun via Saharanpur. Vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour on this expressway. Also, it will reduce the distance from Dehradun to Delhi by about 40 kms. It is claimed that after the construction of the expressway, Dehradun can be reached from Delhi in just 2.5 hours. Now it takes 7 hours to complete this journey. After Dehradun, roads and tunnels are also being constructed to reach Gangotri (located in Uttarkashi district).
With their help, reaching from Dehradun to Gangotri can also be completed in half the time as compared to now. At present, it takes about 15 hours to reach Gangotri from Delhi. Although, this distance is only 525 kilometers, but due to the steep slopes and climbing routes, a lot of time is spent in traveling on this route.

when will the work be completed
The work of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to be completed by the end of this year. However, if reports are to be believed then the work on the road ahead till Gangotri will be completed in the next 4 years. The work of Mohand tunnel on the border of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has been completed. Apart from this, the work of two more tunnels Uttarkashi Bypass Tunnel and the tunnel being built on Uttarkashi-Yamunotri All Weather Road has also been completed. A total of 4 tunnels were to be built, out of which only one Dehradun-Chamba tunnel is left.
How will be the journey in 7 hours
With the construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the journey between the two cities will be completed in 2.5 hours. After this, the road being built from Dehradun to Uttarkashi can reach there in 2.5 hours. Although Gangotri is located in Uttarkashi itself, but to reach there one has to travel another 100 kms. Work is going on here on the all-weather road, due to which this journey will also be reduced to 2 to 2.5 hours. Whereas earlier it used to take 5 hours. Explain that a 6.5 kilometer stretch on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will be made elevated.
