New Delhi. Delhi will be connected to other areas of NCR through the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) being built under the National Capital Regional Transport Corporation (NCRTC). First of all, preparations are going on to connect Delhi with Meerut. The work of the first phase of this Route Rapid Rail is almost complete. RRTS Chief Public Relations Officer Puneet Vats told that the third tunnel of RRTS has been constructed in Meerut. This tunnel is about 2 kilometers long.
With the construction of this tunnel, the underground work of this route has been completed. The first tunnel of this route was dug on October 2022. Let us tell you that the work of Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail is going on in full swing as its first phase is to be made operational in March. In the first phase, the train will travel 17 kilometers from Sahibabad to Duhai. NCRTC MD Vinay Kumar Singh has said that trial run has been started with one train. He said, “We were supposed to start operations of the first phase by June 2023 but we will do it only in March. He said that the work of the entire corridor of 82 km would be completed by 2025.

What is the specialty of the train

The operational speed of the metro is 80 km per hour while the rapid rail will run at a speed of 160 km per hour. Also, it will be run for a long distance from Delhi. For example, in the coming time, rapid rail will run between Delhi-Alwar, Delhi-Panipat, Ghaziabad-Khurja, Delhi-Rohtak and Ghaziabad-Hapur. Work is also going on on the Delhi-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat corridors. NCRTC claims that it will take only 60 minutes to travel 100 kilometers. At present, trains run on long routes at the speed of 160.
