Passengers will get better facilities
The ministry said that DigiYatra aims to provide a seamless and hassle-free experience for passengers at airports. Its main objective is to improve the passenger experience by eliminating the need for ticket and ID verification. Under this, a digital infrastructure is being developed along with the existing mediums at the airports. This project is being implemented in a phased manner at different airports of the country.
Operators are spending for infrastructure
The ministry says that the expenditure on infrastructure is being done by the airport operator to implement Digi Yatra. Because the civil airport authority does not provide any budgetary support for this. Airport operators and airline operators are making in-flight announcements at airports to give wide publicity to Digi Yatra. At the same time, apart from promoting through boarding passes, help desk assistance is being given and banners and films etc. are being shown at the airport.
Mobile app is also available
A free app for both Android and iOS phones has also been created for DigiYatra. It can be downloaded on any smartphone with Google Play Store for Android and App Store for iPhone. This app allows contact less identification which reduces the time taken at security check boarding gate and airport entry gate. It is also being promoted through social media.
