According to the news of HT, Dr V Mohan, Chief Diabetologist, Mohan Diabetes Specialty Center said that in recent times, the cases of diabetes among the youth are increasing rapidly. Even the symptoms of diabetes are being seen in teenagers. Dr V Mohan said that in fact, the trend of consuming junk food, high calorie food, more sugar, salt, more fat food has increased among the youth. There is very little outdoor sports or other outdoor physical activities for them. From an early age, youth have started taking stress. Most of the activities they do without moving the body. In some cases, diabetes in the parents can also be the reason for this. Due to all these reasons, diabetes has started occurring in the youth since the age of 20.

Dr V Mohan says that when diabetes occurs at a young age, the risk of many physical complications with it increases manifold compared to older people. If you have diabetes at the age of 30 to 40, then the risk of developing many other diseases along with diabetes increases. Whereas if you have diabetes at the age of 50 to 60, the risk of other diseases is very less.

  • Get your lifestyle right. Do not eat too sweet or too salty things. Avoid oily things as well. Increase the intake of vegetables. Stay away from junk food, alcohol, cigarettes.
  • Do regular exercise. If you are not able to exercise, then try to walk at least 3 kilometers daily.
